Killer applications: guns and drugs via Internet

Japan Today says that the National Police Agency "confiscated a record 105 handguns involving Internet transactions in the first six months of the year." (The guns were probably purchased through websites located outside Japan, though the article did not go into such detail.) Meanwhile, the British government has been asked to look into the availability of prescription drugs on the Internet, after a student who bought large qualities of opiates and anti-depressants online committed suicide. The Independent said the drugs were delivered by post after being ordered from websites in other countries, thus escaping UK controls.
